I Used to Skate. (Now I Drink Wine)
This one's for everyone who traded their deck for a decanter but never lost the itch to drop in. The nose pops like a clean kickflip with dried cherries, fresh-off-the-vine tomatoes and a hit of perfume, then the palate carves through red berry pie, tapenade and a curl of applewood smoke. We let it ferment on its own in concrete and stainless steel with a touch of whole cluster, then gave it 18 months to chill out in mostly neutral barrels. It's got all the depth with none of the heaviness, so it rolls light and lands smooth. Pure new school westside Paso, built for an afternoon sesh at the bowl or a few war stories with your old crew.
