2019
100% Syrah. One barrel each from James Berry, Luna Matta and Slide Hill come together to create a spectacular singular Syrah. Big, muscular and sexy, this is an inky beast that jumps out of the glass. Aromatics of roasted spit fired meats, black fruits, violets, coffee and cocoa conjure an amazing al fresco luncheon from years back with friends. The palate has next level concentration, amazing texture and a finish that goes on for days. You may want to stock up on your whitening strips for this one! Drink 2021-2031.

2020
100% Syrah. 3 great sites, 1 AMAZING wine! We often speak of terroir and crafting wines that speak of their place. But dazzling results can be achieved by marrying three great terroirs into one wine. 3 is that wine. Luna Matta brings a dark fruit element to the table. MAHA adds vivacity topped with a dollop of violets and Slide Hill adds the cooler climate savory notes. The finished wine is a sultry powerhouse of fruit, complexity, concentration and texture that has you wanting for more! A seductive bouquet of blackberry pie, violets, asphalt and Aussie salted licorice transition to a hedonistic concoction of olive tapenade, cocoa, and toasted marshmallows framed with juicy tannins and just the right amount of structure that will provide years of pleasure. Pair with Lapin Rôti (roasted rabbit) over herbed white beans with sautéed greens. Drink 2022-2032

2021
100% Syrah. 1/3 fruit, 1/3 savory, and 1/3 ethereal makes for a 100% badass Syrah. Aromatics, texture and depth combine for a wine that will be hard to keep your hands off of. Willy Wonka purple with stunning aromatics of blackberry pie, grilled meats, cigar box, and wet limestone transition to an opulent palate filled with black fruits, purple flowers, and earth. The wine finishes with amazing polish and just the right amount of tannins to justify some short term cellaring. Drink 2023- 2036

100% Syrah. There are wines of place and wines of style. Wines of place have that “je ne sais quoi” and wines of style have a particular framework to them. ‘3’ is a wine of style, a “made” wine, if you will. Rather than being restricted to one growing site, the winemaker’s pantry expands, allowing for the complicated flavor profiles you get from blending vineyards together in a wine.   Historically, ‘3’  has featured grapes from 3 vineyards, hence the name. This year, it is a wine from two sites, MAHA and Kirk Landry. Both vineyards bring nuances offered by their distinctly different growing locations and enhanced by the use of whole cluster fermentation on one of the Kirk Landry Syrah lots. The deep violet color creates a kaleidoscope on the edge of your stem as you swirl it. Intoxicating aromas emerge as you swirl your glass: cigar box, cinnamon, limestone, and purple flowers. The silky and elegant palate conjures days in your granny’s kitchen with notes of marshmallow, salted caramel, berry pie, and nori (probably not in your granny’s kitchen). Don’t let this wine fool you. It says drink me now BUT it really wants some time in the cellar to fatten up. Drink 2024-2045

2023
100% Syrah. MAHA Estate and Kirk Landry Inspired by the great Syrahs of rugged Roussillon and the northern Rhône Valley, “3” brings together the best of both worlds—floral and savory aromatics woven with lush, dark fruits and a generous palate. Brilliant ruby hues shimmer in the glass as a symphony of dark cherry, black pepper shortbread, violets, and petrichor emerge. The palate is energetic and rich with notes of blackberries, roasted chanterelles, purple flowers and limestone. Captivating and complex, it has you hooked and wanting more. While delish at the moment, a few years in the cellar will pay off in spades. Don’t let this one get away! Drink 2026-2040

2024
100% Syrah. This iteration of 3 is compelling as hell. It’s a blend from two Adelaida District sites, MAHA and Kirk-Landry, with a touch of Stolpman Vineyard in Ballard Canyon. The nose is stunning, filled with purple flowers, marzipan, and wet stones. It really draws you into the glass. The palate is energetic and silken, layered with baked dark fruits, butter crust, and fine tannins. Built for cellaring, it already delivers serious pleasure with an hour or two in the decanter. Open one now, hide the rest… or just accept you’ll wish you had more. Don’t put your toe in the water here…JUMP IN! Drink 2026–2040
