2011 Damas Noir
100% Mourvèdre. Mourvèdre brings a wonderful blend of fruit and savory to the table, especially when stems are included. We started the single variety bottling 5 years ago after we realized that Mourvèdre fills an important niche in our own cellar, and since then, have unearthed a clan of die hard Mourvèdre fans. It’s characteristic meat, earth and salinity are enhanced by blueberries and anise making this wine a meal in itself like an everlasting gobstopper. If you haven’t had the pleasure of falling into it’s grasp, it’s likely due to the fact that as of 2013, of the 300,000 acres of red wine grapes planted in California, only 1,022 acres are Mourvèdre. Here we offer an opportunity to try the American wine scene’s best kept secret.
Anise, black fruits, mesquite and spice dance together in the glass. The soft, yet structured palate frames boysenberry, rose hips, salted black licorice and Asian spices. This wine is cool and dark, yet intoxicating and sultry. Think Lena Olin. Give it a decant or if you can hold off, some time in the cellar, then enjoy with mesquite grilled bacon-wrapped figs followed by an herb dusted leg of lamb or Provencal boulliabase. Drink 2015 - 2030
2014 Carver Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This will be our third bottling off this historic site planted in the early 80’s. Its coastal proximity and high elevation produce Cabernet with great precision and clarity. These days many folks are crafting Cabs that don’t taste like Cab. Cabernet Sauvignon is not naturally a big burley wine. (Its parents are Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc.) The 2014 has been resting for three years in a selection of French and Hungarian barriques. The result is a beautiful wine that might be reminiscent of a French claret. This is a graceful wine that combines power and finesse. Consider it a bit of an intellect while still being able to entertain at a cocktail party. Drink 2017-2027
2014 Willow Creek Cuvée
70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% Carignan. Beautiful, complex, and round with an ever-so-slight edge, if there is a crowd pleaser in the line-up, it’s Willow Creek Cuvée. The Grenache base is a beautiful foundation of red fruits and spice. The savory aspects of Mourvèdre and the dark black fruits of Syrah add breadth and richness making it the hit of the party. Rousing aromas of smoked ham hock, plums, dried flowers, and sandalwood brings you to the edge of your seat. The palate amuses with bold flavors of black raspberry, licorice, spice and maple syrup. It is a wine you will like now but love later…! Drink 2016-2028
2016 Luna Matta Cuvée
100% Syrah. We love Luna Matta for its intense flavor profile and complexity. It is reminiscent of a warmer climate, Northern Rhone Syrah. This wine offers a palate that only our sun drenched limestone soils can achieve. The nose demands attention with a concoction of cocoa powder, smoke, black fruits, and herbs. The palate offers power, richness, and elegance. The 2015 version received 95 pts from Vinous. This one never had a chance to be rated. Almost gone! Drink 2019-2025
2018 Neo Noir
100% Grenache. A dessert wine for people who don’t like dessert wines, this Banyuls-styled bottle shows the continued versatility of Grenache, showcasing that even when picked late, it still holds on to that brightness. Concentrated and caramelized in the sun, then aged in neutral oak for 6 years, Neo Noir gives you a lighter, more approachable alternative to Port, tasting like candied strawberries, forest floor, and petrichor. Due to its pre-oxidized nature, this can be opened and enjoyed over a span of months, not days, and is a compelling addition to cocktails as well as a wine to enjoy on its own. Drink 2026+
2019 Bone White
70% Clairette, 30% Roussanne. The 2019 Bone White is wonderful balance of richness and tension. It is a wine for all seasons. Drink it cold on a warm summer day or at cellar temp on a cool winter night. Notes of orange marmalade, apricot and brioche tee up a generous palate of honey drizzled pear finished with a pinch of sea salt that transcends to a focused thread of minerality and freshness. This wine is firing on all cylinders at the moment but will age gracefully for 10-20 years. Drink 2022-2035
