46% Syrah, 28% Graciano, 14% Carignan, 6% Grenache, 6% Mourvèdre. made with 100% certified organic grapes. Year in and out Avenger is the wine you can take to a party and show off to your friends. It has plenty of complexity for the enthusiast, but also a yummy factor that hits the spot for the newbies. This vintage brings both in spades. The dark magenta color entices you into an intoxicating nose of vanilla, bramble berry, cinnamon, graphite and violets. A gorgeous mid-palate folds in flavors of grilled plums, browned butter, salted caramels and curing spices, transitioning to a seamless finish framed with fine tannins. Pull the cork on this one while you are prepping a spice rubbed roasted duck breast over whipped parsnips, and bramble berry confit. 38% Syrah, 36% Carignan, 20% Petite Sirah, 5% Grenache, 1% Mourvèdre. Inky violet stains the glass. A seductive nose complicated with boysenberry, baking spices, Szechuan pepper, graphite and tar. The palate is rich, powerful and seductive. Black fruits, cocoa, green olive tapenade and nori create a wonderful palate of umami. The attack is lively with great mid-palate followed by a complex seamless finish framed with sweet tannins that will soften with a few years in your cellar. Decanting for several hours in the near term is recommended but patience always pays off in spades. Drink 2023-2040

42% Syrah, 23% Mourvèdre, 21% Grenache, 9% Petite Sirah, 5% Carignan. A super yummy concoction where all 5 cast members nail their roles: Syrah, the friendly big guy. Mourvèdre, the introspective philosopher. Petite Sirah, the strong silent type, Grenache, complex and cerebral and Carignan, that character that always keeps you guessing. Seductive aromatics of brambleberry, tobacco and new saddle leather coax you to a palate that is medium to full bodied. Filled with complex notions of fresh baked bread, blackberry preserves, pepper and cocoa, it finishes with ample structure and complimenting tannins topped with a dash of umami. 50% Syrah, 20% Carignan, 17% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah, 1% Mourvèdre. Since its inception, Avenger has been crafted to be a wine that is delicious, textural, age-worthy and very high in YUMMY-NESS. Many consider it our gateway wine: the wine you can roll into a dinner party with and check all the boxes…newbie, collector, old world and new world drinkers…CHECK. The amount of Syrah has varied over the years depending on its supporting cast members. This year, the band is back together and ready to play to SELL OUT dinners, BBQs, and stadiums around the world. Oxblood in color, the aromatics are seductive and energetic with notes of dark fruits, smoked meats, sweet tobacco and Moroccan spices. 46% Syrah, 19% Grenache, 13% Touriga Nacional, 8% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignan, 6% Mourvèdre. It’s hard to imagine this is the 23rd vintage of this wine. Historically Syrah based and full of flavor, complexity and pleasure. The 2023 Avenger is dark, delicious, and brimming with vibrancy, and addition of Touriga Nacional provides a more athletic build than years past. This varietal ripens at lower sugar with moderate acid, which is causing a lot of buzz here on the west side of Paso. A quality to consider with climate change.
The 2023 Avenger’s deep oxblood color transitions to intoxicating aromas of blackberry, sandalwood, earth, and smoked meats. The palate is lush and persistent, conjuring notes of black fruits, grilled plums, jamón, and wild herbs. This one is a BANGER! 41% Syrah, 15% Carignan, 15% Tempranillo, 13% Petite Sirah, 8% Mourvedre, 8% Grenache. As our longest-standing blend, the Avenger drinks like an old friend who still knows how to surprise you. This vintage is a masterful balance of fruit and savory: the nose reveals Middle Eastern spices, cracked pepper, red and purple fruits, and a whisper of earthy minerals that pulls you in. The palate is generous but never overpowering, supple tannins meet dark fruits and the aroma of freshly turned soil. Pair it with a perfectly seared cut of meat or roasted mushrooms, will have you salivating like Pavlov’s dog. Delicious, dangerous, and gone too fast—grab 6 (or 12) before someone else does!
